MEMORIAL HALL

The Memorial Hall is situated in the Village and it is used for staging functions, parties, Club activities, Poling Station, meetings, etc. It comprises a hall, committee room, kitchen, toilets and storage room and it has the capacity for 115 dancing and 60 seated. The charges for its use are £8 per hour for the main hall and £5 per hour for the committee room. Equipment such as tables, chairs, cutlery, glasses etc. and can also be hired if required. The Committee meets about six times a year and the main Officers are Chairman P Martin Secretary A Ould Treasurer N Paige Bookings Bookings can be made through Mavis Bennett (01225 722699) The Committee are proud to announce that the Hall has achieved a HALLMARK AWARD from Community Action, the Rural Community Council for the former county of Avon, and will be presented with the certificate at the Annual General Meeting by Community Action's Chief Executive. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING At the Hall's AGM on 6th May the retiring Committee were presented with a Hallmark certificate by the Chairman of Community Action, Rosemary Todd, recognising the standard of management and administration of the Hall - the certificate is now on display in the Hall. It will look even better against the backdrop of new interior paintwork, curtains and carpeting that were described to the meeting by Mary Worgan, and which are scheduled to be in place after the Summer break. The Hall will then be an even better place to hold your meetings, fund-raisers, parties etc. The Committee for the coming year were voted in, or appointed by the users of the Hall, and are Len Lambert (Art Club), Peter Martin (Parish Council), Brian Nalder (elected), Meg Paige (St John's Church Committee), Nick Paige (elected), Christina Pearce (Toddlers), Angela Ould (elected), Robert Richardson (elected), and Mary Worgan (WI). Brian Nalder stood down as Chairman of the Hall Committee after 11 years in the post, and was given a vote of thanks. The Committee subsequently elected Peter Martin the new Chairman FACELIFT The Hall has had a facelift in August but is now back in operation. It has been redecorated with a new paint scheme and has been fitted with new curtains. The Committee Room has been carpetted to provide a better reception area and more cosy space for small meetings.
